The summer has finally arrived. We will be busy over the next few weeks planting a variety of plants and vegetables in the school garden as part of the Muintir na Tíre School Gardening Competition.

Bhí ióga ar siúl ag ranganna na scoile inniu agus beidh ar feadh roinnt seachtainí eile le Múinteoir Vivian.
All classes began yoga practice with Múinteoir Vivian today. These classes will continue for the next few weeks.

Cúrsa Garchabhrach / First Aid Training
Tiocfaidh David ó Oceans of Discovery chun na scoile ar an 2ú Márta.chun traenáil garchabhrach a chur ar na ranganna éagsúla.

Seachtain Chineáltais/Friendship Week (14th February-18th February 2022)
Bhí Seachtain Chineáltais againn ón Luan an 14ú de mhí Feabhra go dtí an Aoine 18ú. Bhí páistí ó gach rang ag glacadh páirte i ngníomhaíochtaí difriúla a bhaineann le cairdeas.
Friendship week will take place throughout the school from 14/02/2022-18/02/2022. Pupils will take part in various friendship themed activities. This is part of the Amber Flag initiative promoting wellbeing, friendships and positive attitudes in the school. Pupils are invited to dress up on Monday, February 14th in pink/red.

Tá cártaí lámhdhéanta na Nollag á sheoladh ag Rang a 3 chuig ár ospidéal áitiúil chun beannachtaí na Nollag a ghuí orthu & beidh Rang a 6 ag dul go dtí Ospidéal Dhroichead na Banndan inniu chun carúil a chanadh.

Seachtain Itheacháin Sláintiúil / Food Dudes Week - 29/11/2021
Beidh gach rang sa scoil páirteach i gClár Itheacháin Sláintiúil Ghaiscígh an Bhia nó Food Dudes arís i mbliana. Cuirfear tús leis ar an Luan beag seo, an 29ú, agus leanfaidh sé don tseachtain. Tá sé mar aidhm ag an gclár páistí a spreagadh chun níos mó torthaí agus glasraí a ithe. Spreagfar na páistí chun torthaí agus glasraí éagsúla a thabhairt leo ón mbaile agus iad a ithe ar scoil mar chuid dá lón scoile. Tabhraigí cuairt ar www.fooddudes.ie le haghaidh a thuilleadh eolais.
Next week our school will participate in Food Dudes Week from Monday November 29th – Friday December 3rd. Food Dudes is a programme designed to encourage children to eat more fruit and vegetables both in school and at home. It is based on positive role models (the food dude characters), repeated tasting and rewards. We hope the children enjoy the experience of tasting different varieties of fruit and vegetables. |

Beidh an cúrsa aireachais Fí na Folláine ag tosnú sna ranganna Rang a Dó suas go Rang a Sé. Is clár iontach é seo atá bunaithe ar an tSíceolaíocht Dhearfach agus tá dlúthcheangal aige leis an gCuraclam SPHE.
Rang a Dó – Rang 6 will begin their Weaving Well Being programmes after the mid-term break. This programme gives children the opportunity to weave positivity into their daily lives through a range of activities in a variety of areas such as resilience skills (including mindfulness) and developing self-efficacy through empowering beliefs. The lessons are designed to be implemented within the framework of the SPHE curriculum. |

Tá an sceitiminí orainn anseo in nGaelscoil Droichead na Banndan chun tosnú ag obair i dtreo an ‘Brat Amber’ a fháil. Ag leanúint ar aghaidh ón mbrat glas agus an brat gníomhaíoch táimid ag diriú go mór ar imeachtaí a chuireann béim ar sláinte intinne agus sláinte corp I mbliana agus sin é bun chloch an ‘Brat Amber’
Baineann an ‘Brat Amber’ le suaimhneas aigne, meon dearfach agus sláinte coirp. Seo iad roinnt samplaí dos na gníomhaíochtaí/ céimeanna atá ar siúl againn faoi láthair agus a bheidh ar siúl againn an scoilbhliana seo.
Chuirfimid fáilte roimh aon smaointi eile a cheanglaíonn isteach leis an téama seo nó ma tá aon scileanna faoi leith o thaobh aireachais, machnamh aireach, ceol, ealaín cruthaitheach, aclaíocht go dteastaíonn ó éinne roinnt linn sa ghaelscoil bheimid fíor bhuíoch.
AMBER FLAG
We are very excited to announce that here at Gaelscoil Dhroichead na Banndan. we are embarking on a new adventure. Following on from the success of the Green School Flag and Active School Flag Initiatives, we are now taking on the challenge of obtaining an Amber Flag.
The amber flag initiative is about promoting positive mental health and well-being in schools. This involves the whole school community coming together in other to create a safe, positive and healthy attitude towards our general physical and mental health and well-being. The following is a sample of some of the activities we will partake in over the coming few months.
We would really welcome any ideas and suggestions you may have which could be incorporated into the activities already listed. Likewise, if any parent is willing to share their skills and talents with us in terms of creative art, music, meditation, mindfulness, fitness, healthy eating, etc. please let one of the teachers know. We acknowledge and appreciate the knowledge and skills you all have which may help us create a positive mental health and well-being environment here at Gaelscoil Dhroichead na Banndan.

- Beidh clár don bhrat amber crochta sa hall, ar an gclár seo beidh ‘Smaoineamh dearfach na Seachtaine’ crochta gach seachtain, anuas ar sin tógfaidh gach rang an chlár ar feadh mí agus cróchfaidh said a dtaispeántas féin búnaithe ar na teamaí go léir atá thuas luaite.
- Faoi láthair tá ár ‘gCrann Buíochais ‘ cróchta sa halla, tá gach páiste ó Rang 1 go Rang 6 ag scríobh faoi rud amháin atá said buíoch as ar scoil, scríobhfaidh siad ar duilleog daite agus beidh gach ceann crochta ar an gcrann.
- Gach ré Céadaoin beidh píosa obair bhaile ag na páistí dírithe ar aireachais. Glaotar ‘Céadaoin an Chinealtáis’ ar an gCéadaoin seo.
- Beidh na ranganna go léir ag glacadh páirt I machnamh aireach sna seomraí ranga cúpla uaire in aghaidh na seachtaine.
- Ceanglóidh ár cur chuige iomlánaíoch ó thaobh an curraclam OSPS agus an curraclam corpoideachais leis an téama seo go héasca.
- Beidh ‘Seachtain na Sláinte Intinne agus Sláinte Coirp’ ar siúl againn I mí Feabhra.
- Beidh Cainteoirí ionspioráideach aginn ag caint leis na páistí.
- Ár Amhrán/ Rap sonais féin
- Beidh Comórtás Postaer againn san athbhliain.
- Polsaí Sláinte Intinne cúrtha le cheile
- Lá na stocaí corr – ag ceiliúradh go bhfuilimid go léir difriúil agus uathúil.
- Gníomhaíocht tiomsaithe airgid le haghaidh Pieta House.

- An Amber Flag notice board will be displayed in the hall with a positive ‘thought for the week’, each class will display their work on the theme of over the coming months.
- We currently have our ‘Crann Buíochais’ hanging in the school hall, each child will write about one thing they are grateful for at school and we will hang all the leaves on the tree.
- Every second Wednesday ( Céadaoin an Chinealtais) we will have a piece of homework based on mindfulness,
- All classes will engage in guided mediatations and mindfulness activities each week.
- Holistic activities undertaken through the SPHE and PE strands of the curriculum will carry on as normal.
- In February we will have a positive mental and physical health week, packed with activities promoting a positive attitude to our general physical and mental health well-being.

- A fund raising activity in aid of Pieta House
- Poster Competition to take place in the New Year
- Mental Health policy for school
- Odd Socks Day which will be celebrated in recognition of the fact that we are all unique
