During the 2013 - 2014 school year, we received a place on the Craft Ed Art Project, organised by the Irish Craft Association. Every week during the last school term, our local artist Liz Flatman came to the school. Liz is a dressmaker & fabric and fiber expert. We chose weaving as our theme & the children learned about the history of weaving in Ireland & around the world. We decided to recreate the school emblem on a picture made from various fabrics, such as wool, old clothes & tights. Every child from last years First Class participated in the project. They learned lots of new skills including sewing, embroidery, paper & fabric weaving & they learned about the school emblem. We are very proud of our creation which is hanging on the wall in the halla!
