Oíche Shamhna & Briseadh Meán Téarma/ Halloween & October Mid-term

Beidh an scoil dúnta don bhriseadh lár téarma ón Aoine 23/10/2020 ar a 2.00pm i gcomhair na Naíonáin Bheaga agus Naíonáin Mhóra agus ar a 2.50pm do gach rang eile. Beidh an scoil á athoscailt ar an Luan an 2/11/2020.
The school will close for Mid-Term break on Friday, 23rd October at 2.00pm for Naíonáin Bheaga agus Naíonáin Mhóra and at 2.50pm for all other classes and will re-open on Monday, 2nd November.

Beidh cead ag na leanaí teacht isteach gléasta suas ar an lá, an Aoine, an 23/10/20. Tabharfar duaiseanna amach le haghaidh an iarracht is fearr i ngach seomra. Beidh cóisir beag Oíche Shamhna i ngach rang i mbliana.

All classes are invited to dress up on the last day of term, Friday the 23rd, to mark Hallowe’en. There is no set theme. Your child can dress up as their favourite book character, super hero, future career etc. Parents should not feel pressurised to buy costumes. Prizes will be given out on the day to those who make the best effort in putting a costume together. Each class will have their own Hallowe’en party in their classroom this year.

Coiste na dTuismitheoirí/ Parents Association

Ba mhaith linn buíochas ó chroí a ghabháil le Coiste na dTuismitheoirí as seic €1,000 a bhronnadh ar an scoil le déanaí chun acmhainní nua Mata a cheannach do na meán agus ardranganna. Táimid an-bhuíoch ar fad as an gcabhair.

We would like to sincerely thank our wonderful Parents Association for their contribution of €1,000 recently to Maths resources for our senior classes. We greatly appreciate your help and support.

Childrens Book Festival / Féile Leabhar na bPáistí

Mar chuid d’Fhéile Leabhar na bPáistí beidh deis ag Rang a 4, 5 agus 6 buaileadh le hÚdar Leabhar mór le rá, Matthew Geden, níos déanaí sa mhí ar zoom. Beidh deis ag na leanaí ceisteanna a chur ar an údar mar gheall ar an bpróiséas scríbhneoireachta agus conas tabhairt faoi a scéal féin a chumadh.

As part of the Childrens Book Festival, Cork County Library & Arts Service are organising a zoom call for Rang a 4, 5 and 6 with a well known children’s book author. Matthew Geden from the Kinsale Writing School will give the children an insight into the writing process and how to compose your very own story.

Seachtain na Matamaitice/ Maths Week

Tá Seachtain na Matamaitice ar siúl an tseachtain seo chugainn ón 12/10/2020 go dtí an 16/10/2020. I measc na n-imeachtaí atá beartaithe againn beidh siúlóidí Mata, comórtas Maths Eyes, dúshláin Izak 9 agus cluichí Mata á dhéanamh ar na hIpadanna le linn na seachtaine.

Maths Week will take place in the school next week from 12th October-16th October 2020. All classes will be taking part in Maths trails, Maths Eyes competitions, Izak 9 challenges and lots of fun maths games on the Ipads.

Fí na Folláine/Weaving Well Being

Tá an cúrsa aireachais Fí na Folláine faoi lán seoil i Rang a Dó suas go Rang a Sé. Is clár iontach é seo atá bunaithe ar an tSíceolaíocht Dhearfach agus tá dlúthcheangal aige leis an gCuraclam SPHE.

Rang a Dó up to Rang a Sé have begun their Weaving Well Being programmes. This programme gives children the opportunity to weave positivity into their daily lives through a range of activities in a variety of areas such as resilience skills (including mindfulness) and developing self-efficacy through empowering beliefs. The lessons are designed to be implemented within the framework of the SPHE curriculum.

Bearta Sábháilteachta agus Cosanta / Safety and Control Measures

The BOM, school leadership and staff are very conscious of the paramount need to keep all pupils, staff and visitors safe while in the school. The school is a controlled environment. There are control measures in place to combat the introduction or spread of COVID-19. These are based on:

Physical Distancing
Hand Hygiene
Respiratory and Hygiene Etiquette
Mask Wearing, where necessary.

It is of paramount importance that parents wear face masks and/or maintain the social distance to ensure the health and safety of all during drop off and collection times in the school yard..

Cumarsáid leis an scoil / Communication with the school

If you wish to make contact with the class teacher with any updates, concerns or queries regarding your child or your child’s work please do so via the homework diary.

Unfortunately, Parent Teacher meetings will not be able to take place in the school this year. Dates for Parent Teacher meetings to follow at a later time.

Aladdin Connect: Thank you to everyone for downloading the Aladdin Connect App. Your child’s homework is posted daily on the app along with any other important updates.
See Saw: If your child is required to quarantine of self isolate and is well or indeed if a class and their teacher is required to quarantine or self isolate then teaching and learning will take place through See Saw. See Saw is solely for that purpose and any communication with the class teacher should be made via the homework diary.

Seachtain an Spáis/ World Space Week

Beimid ag foghlaim faoi chúrsaí spáis an tseachtain seo ar scoil. Déanfaimid ceiliúradh ar eolaíocht an spáis agus na slite ina gcabhraíonn an t-eolas sin linn maireachtáil anseo ar an domhan. Beidh Caoimhín de Bhailís ó Réadlann na Carraige Duibhe ag tabhairt Rang a 3, 4, 5 agus Rang a 6 ar chuairt fhíorúil mórthimpeall an ghrianchórais.

This week marks annual World Space Week. We will be learning lots of interesting facts about the stars and planets. Caoimhín de Bhailís from Blackrock Observatory will be taking Rang a 3, 4, 5 agus Rang a 6 on a virtual tour around the Solar System next Monday the 12th of October.

Cóineartú / Confirmation

Comhghairdeachas le lucht na céad bliana a ghlac le bronntanas an Spiorad Naoimh ag a searmans cóineartaithe le déanaí. Buíochas ó chroí leis an bParóiste agus Múinteoir Mhaitiú as an tsearmanas álainn a chur le chéile.
Congratulations to our previous Rang a 6 pupils who celebrated their Confirmation on Friday the 2nd of October. A special thank you to Bandon Parish and Múinteoir Mhaitiú for organising the lovely ceremony.
